The lockdowns due to Covid19 have left a lasting impact on our lives. Though the world has resumed its normal pace, work from home is the new “it” and video calls are our new meet-up hub! Working from home is very convenient and safe but it also brings an exclusive, kind of a special edition lethargy along with it.

Small acts of self-care can help you with strain and reduce exhaustion. Here’s how:

  1. Five-minute breaks: Take five-minute breaks after every 1-1.5 hours to do absolutely nothing. Yes, you heard us right. Don’t look at your phone, don’t look at your computer screen. Just take a breather, clear your head of all thoughts and…breathe. Your mind and body need it more than you know. This will also help you focus on your work better and as it makes you feel calmer and relaxed.
  2. Stretching: Walk around and stretch at every opportunity you find. Sitting at one place, completely drowned in your work might make you feel tired and light-headed. Walk around your room, stretch your legs and even clap your hands to improve blood circulation in your body.
  3. Wash your face: This is such a simple tip but how many of us remember to do this regularly while working? Washing your face at regular intervals will help you in many ways. A splash of cold water not only drives drowsiness out of your body but also rejuvenates your eyes. Your eyes take a lot of strain while working and keeping them moist could work wonders if you want to prevent headaches due to looking at your computer screen for too long.
  4. Keep yourself hydrated: When we say hydrate, it doesn’t just imply you should drink a glass of water. Drink water regularly but also sip on fresh fruit juice or milkshakes while working as it’s healthy, keeps you energized and is also very helpful if your work coincides with your meal time.
  5. Play soothing music: This is one of those things that you couldn’t normally do at your workplace. Music has a way keeping your mind calm and free of clutter though it can be distracting. The best way to do this would be playing slow music at a very low volume in the background while you’re working. It helps with focus and concentration while also keeping your mind grounded when you’re having a stressful day. We suggest you to not play your favourite songs because we don’t think it’s a good idea to be found dancing during work-hours!

Follow these simple suggestions for self-care during work from home and never let stress get the better of you!
